Hi Folks, how’s everybody doing today? Good, good. Well, spring is on the way, looks like it’s going to be a nice weekend, the birds are singing, and… oh, hey… this week Sphere College added a new faculty member!
I met Michael Reddy during the Firebird Festival here in Phoenixville. He was playing guitar in Earth Mart where the students suggested we set up a table for the College. I called him over and told him about Sphere College and he was intrigued, and said “This is very interesting. I have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Linguistics from the University of Chicago and taught at Columbia University for a while, I’ve been CTO of a music education company, a woodworker and studied Native American shamanism.” He was also familiar with Black Mountain College (this is always a good indicator).
So when I came to, I suggested that we get together for a chat, which we did and determined that we are philosophically on the same page. The Steering Committee of the College, made up of students and faculty (until now, me) had defined the process by which we will bring on new faculty members, so we went through that process, which culminated in our signing of an agreement with Michael on Tuesday, March 2. So we officially have a new faculty member—a truly momentous occasion for Sphere College! We are delighted to welcome him, and look forward to an extremely fruitful collaboration.
